How long does Finasteride stay in your system?

Finasteride is a hair loss medication that is used as a treatment for an enlarged prostate, or for treating hair loss in men. Finasteride is a man-made 4-azasteroid compound that specifically inhibits steroid Type II 5a-reductase, the enzyme in the cells that allows the conversion of the androgen testosterone into 5a-dihydrotestosterone, or DHT. This is a potent hormone that results in the miniaturisation of hair follicles, which will eventually lead to healthy, regular hair growth coming to an end.

Finasteride tablets are film-coated for oral administration, with each tablet containing 1mg of finasteride. It is considered the first-line treatment for androgenetic hair loss in men. It is available only with a doctor’s prescription.

    How long does Finasteride last?

If you are taking finasteride for hair growth you should remember that it is not an immediate process. It will take between three to four months before you see any tangible results. If you take finasteride as directed by your doctor every day, you can expect to see proper results in the third or fourth month. It will be between six to nine months when you notice the full effects of finasteride. This is due to the fact that new hairs need plenty of time to be produced.

Finasteride does not always regrow the hair that you lost. In some cases, men will take finasteride in order to put a stop to further hair loss, rather than to regrow the hair they have already lost. It is possible, however,  that you may not notice any improvement in your hair after taking finasteride. Do not be alarmed, as finasteride will continue to work by preventing any additional hair loss.

Even if you take finasteride for hair growth, it is important to keep in mind that your hair may continue to fall out, this is due to it being part of your natural growth cycle. Old hair is lost in order to be replaced by new hair. It is not unreasonable to expect to see some hairs coming off your head in the shower, or after you have combed or brushed your hair.

For the full results of finasteride to be noticeable, you will need to wait for at least one full year of continuous usage on a daily basis. If you ship taking the pills for some days or weeks, you can actually be preventing finasteride from working as effectively as it should.Even if you do not see a visible increase of new hair being produced, you should not stop taking finasteride. If you stop taking finasteride, your natural hair will go back to its natural amount and you might continue losing hair. When used according to the instructions of your doctor, finasteride is very effective at preventing hair loss. Don’t be impatient because it takes several months before new hairs are produced.

What are the side effects of Finasteride?

One of the main side effects users of finasteride have reported is a decreased sexual ability or a reduction in sexual desire. Both of these may occur when you take finasteride. In some men, finasteride may also decrease the amount of semen released during sex. This is a harmless side effect but one that has continued in some men even after they have stopped taking finasteride. You should make sure to notify your doctor immediately if the side effects get worse or persist.

You should also make sure to tell your doctor immediately if you have any serious side effects. These can include nipple discharge, a lump in the breast, breast enlargement or tenderness, pain in the testicles, and an inability to urinate.

An allergic reaction to finasteride is highly unlikely, but if you suspect it has occurred then you should get immediate medical attention. The symptoms of a serious allergic reaction include itching or swelling, especially of the face/tongue/throat, rashes appearing on the skin, trouble breathing, and severe dizziness.

What precautions should you take with Finasteride?

Before taking finasteride you should make sure to tell your doctor if you know that you are allergic to it, or if you have any other allergies to anything else. As well as this, before using this medication you should tell your doctor your medical history, especially of prostate cancer, liver disease, infections, and urinary problems.

It is important to note that Finasteride can also be absorbed through the skin. If the film coating of the tablets has been broken or the tablet crushed, it should not be handled by a woman who is pregnant or planning to become pregnant. The exposure of a male fetus to finasteride may result in the development of abnormal genitals. Finasteride is to be used only by adult males and it should also not be given to children.

    How do you take Finasteride?

Finasteride is to be taken by mouth for up to three months before seeing a benefit from the medication. It will only work long term, which means that you have to continuously take it. If finasteride does not work for you, and you do not even notice your hair loss slowing after 12 months of use, it is likely that you will not notice a major benefit at all. If you stop taking finasteride, you will likely lose the hair that you have regained within the 12 months that you were taking it.Finasteride can be taken with or without a meal. The recommended dosage of finasteride to treat androgenetic hair loss is one 1-mg tablet daily. Finasteride has been proven to successfully work in men between the ages of 18 and 41 who have mild to moderate hair loss of the vertex and the anterior mid-scalp area. If you would like to make a purchase of finasteride, it is readily available online at UK Meds.
