    When to take Viagra

For men with erectile dysfunction, Viagra (Sildenafil) is an extremely effective and valuable treatment that shot to fame in the 1990’s. But despite its reputation, there’s still a lot of questions surrounding the drug and not everyone knows exactly when or how to take it.

    When should I take Viagra?

Viagra is a medication that can help men to get and maintain an erection but it’s important to take it at the right time to ensure its effectiveness.

Take Viagra (Sildenafil) when needed, approximately an hour before sexual activity. It can become active in your system in as little as 30 minutes, but it’s advised to take it an hour beforehand to allow for factors like food, which can slow absorption.

Once you’ve taken Viagra, it will remain active in your body for 4-5 hours and can assist with any sexual activity in that time frame. Therefore, it may be taken anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours before sexual activity, but the 1 hour mark is recommended as optimum.

    How do I take Viagra?

Viagra (and the generic Sildenafil) is a prescription-only medication so you must first be prescribed it before being able to take it. However, there is also Viagra Connect, which is an over-the-counter version that you can buy without a prescription. You do still need to buy it from a regulated pharmacy though, such as UK Meds.

Take Viagra by swallowing the tablet whole with a glass of water. You may take 1-2 tablets at a time, up to a maximum dose of 100mg. If it’s the 100mg tablets you have then make sure you only take one tablet per dose. Do not exceed one dose in 24 hours.

Do not take Viagra with grapefruit or grapefruit juice, as this can interact with the drug and cause unwanted side effects. Like all medicines, Viagra has a list of possible side effects, but not all people who take it will experience these. However, the most common ones include headaches, dizziness and a runny or stuffy nose.

    How does Viagra work?

Viagra (Sildenafil) belongs to a class of medications called PDE-5 inhibitors. PDE-5 is an enzyme that breaks down the substance that causes your smooth muscles to relax (essentially, the substance that causes an erection).

By blocking the action of PDE-5, medicines like Viagra and Cialis are able to help men to get and maintain an erection by relaxing the blood vessels that carry blood to the penis (and constricting the blood vessels that carry blood away from the penis), thus keeping the blood in the penis.

    Where can I buy Viagra?

Other than Viagra Connect (which is over-the-counter), you will need a prescription in order to get over the counter Viagra (or the generic version, Sildenafil). You don’t need an existing one to be able to buy Viagra from UK Meds though, as one will be provided for you (included in the price) following a successful consultation.
