Always use this medication as directed by your healthcare provider. You should use Locoid Lipocream no more than twice a day unless you have been specifically told otherwise. 

The correct dosage of Locoid Lipocream will depend on the specific condition it is being used to treat. For regular skin, it is recommended that you apply the cream no more than twice a day. If your condition is on thickened areas of psoriasis on the knees or elbows you may be told to apply the cream under an airtight dressing. 

Locoid Lipocream is suitable for adults, children and the elderly for treating numerous skin conditions. It is also suitable for people who are driving or operating machinery as it should not affect their ability to do this safely.

Locoid Lipocream may not be suitable for some people to use. Children should not be given this treatment as a long-term solution. The treatment should be given to infants for a maximum of 7 days. You should also not use Locoid Lipocream if:

  • You are allergic to hydrocortisone butyrate
  • Your condition is caused by untreated bacterial, viral, fungal, yeast or parasitic infections
  • You have skin problems associated with syphilis or tuberculosis
  • The skin around your mouth is inflamed
  • You have acne
  • You have redness of the facial skin

No, you should not use Locoid Lipocream if you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant unless your doctor feels the benefits outweigh the risks. There may be a small risk that the medication could harm your baby. 

No, you should not use Locoid Lipocream if you are breastfeeding unless your doctor thinks it is completely necessary. You should seek advice from your doctor before you begin using this medication. 

You should ensure to tell your healthcare provider if you are using, have recently used, or may begin using any other medicines to ensure that Locoid Lipocream will be right for you.

Locoid Lipocream may cause some people to experience some side effects, the most common of which are:

  • Allergic reactions

  • Skin redness

If the cream is used in moist areas, for example in skin folds, the skin may become thin and damaged.
