You should always use Locoid Ointment as you have been told to by your doctor. Typically you will be able to use your medication a maximum of twice a day, however, you MUST abide by the instructions given to you by your healthcare provider.

The correct dosage of Locoid Ointment will be whatever you have been directed to use by your healthcare provider. Usually, a user will need to apply a thin layer of ointment to the affected area of the skin a maximum of twice a day. In some cases, healthcare providers will advise that you apply the ointment underneath an airtight dressing. 

Locoid Ointment is indicated for use by adults, the elderly, and children over the age of 3 months who are suffering from a number of different skin conditions.

Locoid Ointment may not be suitable for some people to use. This medication should not be used by people who are allergic to any of the ingredients included in the medication. Children under the age of 3 months should also not use this medication. You should not use Locoid Ointment if any of the following applies to you:

  • Your skin condition is associated with tuberculosis or syphilis 
  • You have acne
  • You have redness of the facial skin
  • Your skin disorder is caused by an untreated bacterial, viral, fungal, yeast, or parasitic infection

No, you should not use Locoid Ointment if you are pregnant, or if you are trying to conceive unless your doctor feels the risks outweigh the benefits. 

No, you should not use Locoid Ointment if you are breastfeeding, or if you are thinking about breastfeeding whilst using this medication as there is a risk it can affect your child.
