What is Elocon Cream?

The main benefit of using Elocon Cream is the reduction of the redness, swelling, itching of the skin, which prevents scratching that further irritates the skin. Elocon Gel effective restores the normalcy in the skin.

How do I use Elocon Cream?

Read first the patient information leaflet that comes with the medication package before you start using Elocon Cream.

Apply only a thin film of the Cream to the affected areas of the skin once daily.

Treatment with this medication should be discontinued when the skin condition has been controlled. If no improvement is seen within two weeks of use of this medication, a reassessment of diagnosis may be needed.

Do not use Elocon Cream with tight dressings unless ordered to do so by your doctor. Do not use this Cream in the diaper area or when using plastic pants because diapers and plastic pants constitute occlusive dressings.

Elocon Cream is for topical use only. It is not for oral, ophthalmic. Or intravaginal administration.

Wash your hands thoroughly before and after using the Cream. Clean and dry first the affected areas of the skin before you apply Elocon Cream. Do not wash or rinse the Cream off after applying it.

Elocon Cream is to be applied thinly on the affected areas of the skin once daily.

Side effects & precautions

All medicines produce some unwanted side effects. Not every individual who uses Elocon Cream experience the possible side effects.

The use of Elocon Cream may result in itching, burning, or itching. These side effects do not last long. They disappear as the skin gets used to the medication. If the side effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor immediately.

Before you start using Elocon Cream, tell your doctor if you are allergic to mometasone, or if you have other forms of allergies. Elocon Cream may have some inactive ingredients that could trigger an allergic reaction or other problems.

Share with your doctor your medical history before you start using this Cream.

Mometasone and other corticosteroids can make skin infections worse and difficult to treat. Report to your doctor if you have any skin infection so he could treat it properly.

Inform your doctor if your condition does not improve or worsen after using
Elocon Cream for more than two weeks.

During pregnancy, the use of mometasone furoate 0.1% should be performed only upon the order of a physician. Avoid using Elocon Cream on large areas of the skin or over a prolonged period of time. There is inadequate evidence of its safety in human pregnancy.

It is not known whether the use of corticosteroids in the skin could be absorbed in into the bloodstream or pass into the breast milk.. Elocon Cream should be administered only to a nursing mother only after careful consideration of the benefit/risk relationship.

Drug interactions may alter how your medicines work or may increase your risk for serious side effects. It is important that you share with your doctor a list of all medications you are currently taking before you start using Elocon Cream. This will give your doctor the opportunity to check for drug interactions in the drug combinations.
