FFP2 (N95) Covid-19 Medical Respirator
What type of medical respirator is good against the coronavirus, also known as the covid-19 or Wuhan virus? According to medical expo, FFP2/N95 medical respirators are currently being used to help protect against being infected with the coronavirus.
FFP2 masks have a minimum of 94% filtration percentage and maximum 8% leakage to the inside. They are mainly used in construction, agriculture, and healthcare professionals against influenza viruses. They are currently used for protection against the coronavirus.
These medical respirator are either valved or unvalved filtering that are recommended when protection of the respiratory system is needed.
They are FFP2 grade and meet the guidance from the World Health Organisation (WHO) for healthcare workers in relation to coronavirus and certain procedures.
What are N95 Medical Respirators?
Dust medical respirators filter particles of dust out of the air. If it is an FFP2, it means that it can filter over 95% of dust particles out of the air.
Are FFP2 Medical Respirators Washable?
These masks are not designed to be washed. However, if you don't require FFP2 level protection and are more interested in something you can wash and re-use then we have a new washable face covering. These do not provide filtered protection but they do provide more protection than not wearing a face covering at all.
What do Medical Respirators look like?
The medical respirators are a half-face respirator that covers the nose and mouth when fitted properly. They have 2 elastic ear loops to keep the mask in place and they also have a small metal section that sits across the bridge of the nose when in use.
Where can I buy medical respirators for coronavirus?
You can buy these from UK Meds. The FFP2 medical respirator listed above can help protect wearers against the Coronavirus. We have overnight shipping most days of the week, you can see the date your coronavirus medical respirator will be delivered as you check out.
How do I use FFP2 Medical Respirators?
These FFP2 medical respirators are easy to use and can be worn by anyone. To fit, simply hold the medical respirator and place it over your nose and mouth. Bring both ear loops over your ears and adjust the position until it’s comfortable.
Once the medical respirator is in place, you can adjust the fitting on your nose by pinching or moving the metal bridge section so that it fits closely but without being too tight. UK Meds also has dust surgical masks.
The medical respirators are comfortable to wear as they are lightweight and non-bulky. They protect against materials at concentrations up to 12x OEL or 10x APF (assigned protection factor).
Are the medical respirators re-usable?
These medical respirators are not marketed as re-usable medical respirators.
However, the OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) directive indicates that a mouth mask can be reused as long as it "maintains its structural and functional integrity and the filter material is not physically damaged or soiled".
What's the difference between each type of medical respirator?
You can learn more about the varying styles and protections levels of the FFP2 medical respirators in this video.
The earloop and elastic headband styles are the best kind but they attach to the face in a different way. Because the elastic headbands go all the way around the head and can be adjusted more easily, they can produce a closer fit to the face than the ear loop design.
Valved medical respirators do not offer more or less protection than unvalved ones, they are a comfort feature and make the medical respirators more breathable. This is because they allow air to escape from the medical respirators faster, keeping the mask cooler.
