Mebeverine Hydrochloride

Mebeverine hydrochloride is an antispasmodic medicine. It works by relaxing the muscle in the walls of the intestines, relieving painful muscle spasms in the gut and reduces related symptoms like colicky abdominal cramps and pain, wind, bloating, and diarrhoea alternating with constipation.

Mebeverine is effective in providing relief to the painful muscle spasms in the gut. It effectively reduces the symptoms that are associated with irritable bowel syndrome and related intestinal disorders.

Mebeverine Tablets

Mebeverine should be taken exactly as directed by your doctor. It is important to read the information leaflet that comes with the product package as it provides other information about the medication and its possible side effects.

Mebeverine should be taken one tablet three times a day, 20 minutes before your three main meals. Swallow the tablet whole with a drink of water. Do not chew the tablets because they have an unpleasant taste.

Do not take more three tablets of Mebeverine in a 24-hour period.

The usual dose of Mebeverine is one tablet taken three times a day, 20 minutes before your three main meals.

Mebeverine is not known to affect your ability to drive a vehicle or operate a machine while you are taking the medication.  

Consumption of alcohol within the recommended amount does not affect Mebeverine.

There are very limited amounts of data from the use of Mebeverine in pregnant women. Mebeverine, however, is not recommended for use by a pregnant woman.

It is not known if Mebeverine or its metabolites are excreted in human milk. Mebeverine is not recommended for use by breastfeeding mothers.

No interaction studies have been performed, except with alcohol. In vitro and in vivo studies in animals have demonstrated the absence of any interaction between Mebeverine hydrochloride and ethanol.
